The Story Behind Red Dawn Shotshells

Buddy Denman II
Hi there — I’m 31 and grew up in Southwest Michigan. I studied Design Engineering at Trine University over in Northeast Indiana, but honestly, the outdoors has always been my real classroom.
I started fishing and hunting at a young age with my dad and grandpa, and by the time I hit my teens, I was spending more time chasing fish than just about anything else. In 2019, I met my buddy Austin, and that’s when things really changed. He had an unbelievable passion for deer hunting, and from the moment we met, we were pretty much inseparable. We hunted together almost every day, and he completely reignited my love for the outdoors. A couple years later, he introduced me to waterfowl hunting—and that’s the spark that eventually lit the fire for Red Dawn Shotshells. Without him, this whole journey wouldn’t even exist.
After a freak dirt bike accident, I decided it was time to focus on something smaller and lighter. That’s when I fell in love with small-bore shotguns—especially the .410 and 28 gauge. Add TSS into the mix, and I was hooked. Over the years, I’ve developed and tested hundreds of waterfowl and turkey loads, and let’s just say it turned into a full-blown obsession. Somewhere along the way, I realized I wasn’t just messing around anymore—I’d become one of the go-to guys for small-bore TSS loads.
That passion is what Red Dawn Shotshells is built on. My focus is simple: making high-quality .410 and 28 gauge shells. I love these little guns for their light weight, easy handling, and low recoil—and I think they’re one of the best ways to help more people enjoy hunting. Whether you’re brand-new to the sport or a seasoned hunter looking for something different, small-bores open the door to a whole new level of fun in the field.
At the end of the day, Red Dawn Shotshells isn’t just about ammo—it’s about sharing the hunt, building community, and keeping the traditions of the outdoors alive. If a lighter gun and a little less recoil help more folks get out there and make memories, then I’d say that’s a win all around.
